Coal Mining Dangers

1. Causes in coal mine explosions are often pockets of methane gas that trigger the ignition of coal dust, which then explodes because coal dust and methane are both highly flammable.

2. In the accident that happened in the provided article, the coal mining company gave the families 1.5 million dollars for their lost ones. In China, for the specific accident that happened, they gave families about 66,000 dollars for their lost ones. The United States gave about 22 times more money.

3.  Safety conditions are worse in China than the United States because they have poor coal mining technology, less safety checks, and a lack of safety training for miners. Also, many miners don't pay attention to the safety rules.

Oil Spill

I think it is multiple peoples faults that the Deep-sea Horizon burned down. For example, the consumers want so much oil, the owners of the companies are forced to dig in places that aren't very safe, such as multiple mile deep waters. The barge's crew is also responsible. If they truly are quality workers, they should have known something would go wrong somewhere in the process of digging 4 miles under rock and ocean. Even though many people are responsible for this tragedy, justice is able to be served. The way justice can be served is just a cycle. As long as the oil company can clean up their mess, and still provide people with oil, everyone will stay the same. There will be no uproar from the consumers.

First, the people who would benefit from this dam is the China Power Investment company because they will make money off of it. I think the geologists started to believe that the world was older than 6000 years because of the layering in the rocks. They could tell approximately how old the rock layers were because of their size and amount of layers. They could also discover that the different layers would hold different fossils of the life forms that died in the period. Some of these animals might have been around lots longer than anything within 6000 years.
